about

Starts where the last track leaves off. There is no answer, just take it on the chin and move on. Despite the sorrow expressed in the opening verse, it’s a very optimistic track with simple chords and a sparse arrangement. Keith’s harpsichord adds colour midway and the track builds towards this bright, sunny future. I think there are hints of Wire in there though this is more pop. The wallowing in self pity replaced by hope and light

lyrics

Take it on the chin
That’s all that I can do
It’s over and time to wake up
Open my eyes and see the truth
I’ve been lying to myself
I knew our love had flown
It’s time to face the music on my own

Here it comes the new life
Like a sunrise
Breaking through the clouds
On a brand new day
Here it comes tomorrow
Yesterday’s sorrows
Disappear like clouds after the rain

Spend the night alone in a hotel by the sea
I sit in some quiet corner
Dreaming about tomorrow
Take a walk along the bay
Watch the ships go on their way
Into a new horizon and disappear

Dodging the day trippers down by the quay
I walk to the edge where the land meets the sea
Hope rising up from my wandering soul
The pain is still there but it’s under control
